DNC to virtually nominate Biden and Harris to bypass Ohio ballot issues
The Democratic National Committee will move to conduct virtual proceedings to certify President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party nominees before Ohio's Aug. 7 ballot certification deadline, and before their in-person convention beginning Aug. 19, the party confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday. This could take a significant moment away from Biden and the Democratic party as the official nomination at convention is historically met with fanfare and celebration, but Biden will become the official nominee virtually, perhaps without the typical pomp and circ*mstance. The campaign said that while there will be a virtual roll call and nomination of Biden and Harris, the DNC will still hold in-person ceremonial events for each process at their convention during the week of Aug. 19 in Chicago.

Rough seas cause portion of US temporary aid pier off Gaza to detach
The flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza over the U.S. Army's temporary Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore (JLOTS) system has been paused after rough seas caused parts of the pier to detach, a U.S. official told ABC News Tuesday. At a press briefing on Tuesday an Israeli Defense Forces official also confirmed that JLOTS is not functioning after parts broke off during high seas off the coast of Gaza. The sea conditions in the eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Gaza have already caused issues for the U.S. Army's temporary pier system, intended to create a maritime corridor for international aid to be delivered from Cyprus into Gaza.

As Trump hush money trial draws to a close, jury instructions to play key role
The criminal hush money trial against former President Donald Trump is drawing to a close, with deliberations expected to begin as early as Wednesday. The charging -- or as it's also known, instructing -- of the jury is a standard procedural step in any jury trial, during which the judge advises jurors on how they should go about reaching their verdict. Jurors are instructed on how to apply these guidelines to the evidence presented during trial -- which in this case, includes the testimony of 20 witnesses and over 250 exhibits -- to determine whether the prosecution has proven their case against the defendant.
